Throughout Krakow's history this place has been of importance. It offers splendid views of the city for free and was and still is a focal point from the Senator's Hall of Wawel Castle. The lawn below it offers a great spot for picnics.
It costs nothing to climb up this ancient mound and the views of Kazimierz and the Old Town are one of a kind. It is the oldest mound in Krakow with legends of the founder of Krakow, King Krak, being buried here. Its mystery lures both culture driven tourists and locals to this magic place.
There is a yearly festival commemorating old pagan culture at the base of the mound every year on the first day after Easter.
