Krakowians are proud of the ancient seat of Polish kings. The cathedral is one of the best examples of Baroque architecture and art north of Italy, Wawel Hill has experienced a number of transitions from a Pagan stronghold to the seat of one of the most powerful nations in medieval history. The crypts attest to the importance of this iconic place.

At the heart of Polish history and culture Wawel Hill and its castle, rebuilt many times and finally in a Renaissance style, offer visitors a slight glimpse of the greatness of the Polish nation at its best. Stripped of its many works of art during the Second World War it is still an important place for all Poles.
There is a wall within the courtyard to which Buddhists flock which is thought to be the site of one of the seven chakrah sites of the world.
