It was here that the Nazi's held many rallies. It was here that the book burnings we've all seen in the b/w films were actually held. And today it is just a another place where people lie on the grass and enjoy life.
The architecture of the three buildings surrounding this square is breathtaking, like the history behind them. Imagine thousands of soldiers marching around (back then they even used to cover the whole area with cement pavers to amplify the sound of the goose steppers marching by).
In the summertime there is an open air cinema on the square.
