During the past decades the Gaiola has become a reason of pride for Neapolitans, who love to go there to sunbath and enjoy a dive in the cleanest sea-spots of the city. It feels like a little community of people who love the sea and wants to protect it. Snorkeling is fantastic as many local fish have returned thanks to the prohibition of fishing.
If you visit Napoli, especially during warm months, here you can find a break from the intense rhythm of the city and refresh yourself with a dive in a unique place. The Gaiola is mostly on rocks (no beach) and it is placed in front of two little islands, on one of which a villa is built, which is abandoned because of its reputation to be cursed!
You need to be ready to an energetic walk down to the spot and then up again!the walk itself is beautiful. The opening time is for the Visitor Centre.
