About Uppsala

Uppsala is a lively city with a young population thanks to the students of it's two Universities. Uppsala is the fourth largest city in Sweden but still it has a small town feel to it and the city center is easily covered by foot. Everything is close by! If you want to venture further, do like the locals, take the bike! There are bikers and pedestrians everywhere, around the clock, in any weather and time of year, so look out! You will find what your heart desires in Uppsala! The music scene is great, there are shops, restaurants, pubs, fast food places, nightclubs and bars to suit any taste, lots of parks and walking paths and many historic and contemporary sights. Uppsala Castle guards the city against the enemy since King Gustav Vasa erected it in 1549. Uppsala is the seat of the Archbishop of the Church of Sweden and the Uppsala Cathedral is the largest dome in the Nordic countries. Uppsala University and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences are prominent centers of academics and their students give life and colour to the city.
