Blackford Hill is one of the seven hills of Edinburgh, offering beautiful panoramic views over the city skyline, Arthurs Seat and the Pentland Hills. Blackford Hill is not a very difficult climb and popular among dog walkers and runners. It is also a favourite spot of landscape and astro-photographers.
While most tourists head towards Calton Hill or Arthurs Seat, you can choose a different perspective. Blackford Hill has a more local feel and offers similarly excellent views of the city. There is also a small, artificial pond nearby with significant bird population. The area is a great place for an active day out.
A spot for astronomy lovers, the Royal Observatory sits on the top of Blackford Hill.
