You’ll meet your guide at Křižovnické náměstí in front of the Charles Bridge, where he’ll introduce you to the history of winemaking from the times of ancient Egypt through to the Roman Empire. You’ll learn who became the patron saint of local winemakers and which king brought winemaking to a whole new level in our country.
During a pleasant walk through the city centre, your guide will point out places that were closely connected to wine, outline the laws that winemakers in medieval Prague had to follow and tell you about the privileges and prerogatives they had been granted. Using many pictures and maps of medieval Prague, he’ll explain why Prague was once called the City of Wine and why winemaking decreased in the 19th century.
Several tales about the competition between Prague’s famous wine bars will follow. Your guide will then take you to a famous local wine bar to taste 5 wines produced in the Bohemian and Moravian regions.
