Description

Together we’ll explore the most important sites connected with WWII and the communist regime in the country. First we’ll visit a memorial plaque on Národní St. dedicated to hundreds of student protesters who were brutally beaten by communist police. After a short walk we’ll visit a museum founded in honour of the brave Czech paratroopers who successfully assassinated Reinhard Heydrich – “The Butcher of Prague”, but finally died in a battle against 700 Germans. The next stop is Wenceslas Square where many demonstrations against the communist totalitarian regime took place. You’ll be moved by stories of people who stood up against the oppression and were ready to put their lives at risk in the hope of possible change.

We’ll also take a look at the former Gestapo headquarters – the place that people feared most. Once you entered, you never returned. From there we’ll walk directly to the Old Town Square and the Jewish Quarter where several other WWII stories will be revealed. You’ll find out why Prague is still home to several Jewish sights even though it was occupied from the very beginning of the war.

So, are you ready to experience a completely different kind of tour?

Great tour
Mike, our tour guide was great. He was very well organized and informative. My large family were the only people on the tour so we got to ask lots of questions and Mike was great with answering them. He is very knowledgable and passionate and proud of the history of the Czech Replublic.
WWII and Communism tour Prague
Highly recommend
Michal presented non stop information over the occupation by the nazi's until the fall of communism. He filled in alot of gaps to my knowledge and inspired to look up the bits he didn't cover; only so much can be covered in 3 hours. Be prepared for information coming out of chronological order.
Super Tour, sehr empfehlenswert!
Die Tour war sehr informativ und kurzweilig. Wir konnten Mike alle Fragen stellen und er ist flexibel auf unsere Interessensschwerpunkte im Kontext der Thematik eingegangen. Würden die Tour jederzeit wieder buchen!
Wonderful Tour!!
Mike was a fantastic tour guide and really brought this era to life. We saw some really interesting sites and he told us some riveting stories. I highly recommend this tour.
Great guide
We had the advantage of being in a very small group (only two of us) so it was essentially a private tour. We could ask him many questions about what we saw which would be more difficult in a larger group. The guide knew his subject well.
Fascinating
Love it
The best!! You will not regret taking up this tour. Mike is very knowledgeable and patient. It is very worth the money spent, I definitely enjoyed it very much. Would highly recommend this
We give it a 4. Thanks.
The World War II and Communism tour was excellent!
Michal was vey knowledgeable, and presented the information in a simple and thought provoking way. He held your attention and I will remember a lot of the stories he told for a very long time. I'm very glad I booked this tour.
The tour was excellent. Our tour guide, Mike, knew the history of the era extremely well. He recounted interesting stories. It rained during the entire tour but none of us thought of leaving. I would highly recommend this tour.
Our layover flight was cancelled so we missed our originally scheduled small tour. For a small additional fee, they booked us a private tour and it was well worth it! We very much appreciated Max working to fit us in as we only had 2 full days in Prague. Michael was our tour guide and was very knowledgeable. The most interesting part for us was learning about Reinhard Heydrich's assassination right in Prague. We LOVED Prague
The guide was excellent and very knowledgeable, with a real enthusiasm for the subject which was very specialist. He brought the tour alive with old photos and articles on his tablet. A walking tour such as this is a great way to see some of the hidden aspects of Prague, highly recommended
Mike was first class, young, enthusiastic and knew masses of background information. Responded very well to all our areas of special interest. We enjoyed discussing many historical issues with him. Fabulous.
Mike was a great guide who gave a lot perspective to the stories of what life was like under both Nazi and Communist rule. We did quite a lot of walking to many of the important sites and heard the major stories of Czech history under these regimes. I definitely want to learn more.
