The banks of this legendary Parisian river are marvellous places to spend time. You could start a tour at Quai des Grands Augustins which was one of the first docks in the 16th century, or you could start elsewhere. It’s very romantic to visit at night and see the lights. Parisians enjoy picnicking here with friends.

The riverbanks are closed to traffic on Sundays, and the city is doing more to return them to the pedestrians. The banks between Alma Bridge and Orsay Museum have recently been renovated with floating gardens nearby. The city organises many activities on the riverbanks for both children and adults. Check their website for details.
Most people hang out around Notre Dame. It's also very interesting to start walking from Bir-Hakeim (metro station l. 6) towards the city centre.
