Tucked in a side alley right by the metro in the heart of Belleville, you’ll find rue Denoyez aka street art alley. Once a small laneway filled with abandoned shops, it has been taken over by a vibrant street culture scene that uses the walls and windows as its canvas.
The art is enormously varied (there's so much to see!) and certain little windowsills even house 3D objects such as old toys for an injection of vintage inspiration. There are some funny renamings of street and shop signs, and there's a great café in the middle featuring hobby horses parked alongside motorcycles.
Take care when walking – it looks like a pedestrian street but it's actually a road. Cars can surprise the absorbed observer!
