Darband is a much-loved mountain promenade at the foot of the Alborz range in northern Tehran, where a stone trail climbs beside a rushing stream past a string of traditional restaurants and tea houses. Locals come to hike, socialise and eat, and the path is lined with vendors selling sour cherries, walnuts and grilled corn. Combining gentle mountain scenery with lively local atmosphere, a stroll up the Darband trail is one of the most enjoyable and authentic experiences in the city.
