The Pielpajarvi Wilderness Church stands in serene isolation a few kilometres from Inari village, reached by a lovely walking or skiing trail through forest and meadow. This simple, beautiful wooden church, dating in its present form from the 1760s, once served as the spiritual and gathering place of the local Sami community in an old winter-village site. Peaceful and atmospheric, surrounded by pristine nature, it is both a historic monument and a rewarding destination for a gentle wilderness walk from the village.
