Hidden in the basement of one of Kyivs oldest cinemas, Parovoz, meaning steam locomotive, is a snug speakeasy done up like an old railway carriage, all tin ceilings and low lamplight. The cocktails are excellent and the mood is conspiratorial in the best way. It is a lovely place to start or end a night in the centre. Look for the discreet entrance, settle into a booth, and ask about the seasonal signatures.
