Belfast City Hall is the magnificent centrepiece of the city, a grand Baroque Revival building of Portland stone crowned by a great copper dome, opened in 1906. Set in gardens dotted with memorials in the heart of the centre, it offers free guided tours revealing its opulent marble interiors, stained glass and civic history, along with an exhibition on the city. Impressive inside and out, and a focal point for events and Christmas markets, it is both a working seat of government and one of Belfast’s most beloved landmarks.
