Known simply as Avenyn, Kungsportsavenyn is Gothenburg grand main boulevard, running from the canal at Kungsportsplatsen up to Gotaplatsen square. Lined with restaurants, bars, cafes and shops, the tree-flanked avenue is the city social artery and the focus of festivals and events. At its head stand the art museum, concert hall and theatre, with the Poseidon fountain marking the square.
