Wat Pho, the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, is one of Bangkoks oldest and largest temples, home to a gilded 46-metre reclining Buddha and rows of ornate stupas. It is also the birthplace of traditional Thai massage, with a school on site. Located just behind the Grand Palace, the temple charges a modest admission and offers a calmer, deeply atmospheric complex of chapels, courtyards and Buddha images.
