Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, rises from the Thonburi bank of the Chao Phraya, its central prang encrusted with colourful porcelain and seashells that shimmer in the light. Visitors cross by ferry and can climb the steep steps for river views. Ticketed admission gives access to the spire and surrounding temple grounds, and the site is especially photogenic at sunset when lit against the sky.
