King Abdullah I Mosque

Al-Abdali  •  ★ 4.5  •  $

The King Abdullah I Mosque, with its striking blue mosaic dome, is one of Ammans most recognisable modern landmarks, completed in 1989 as a memorial to the late king. Able to hold thousands of worshippers, it is the only mosque in the city that openly welcomes non-Muslim visitors. Ticketed entry outside prayer times, with modest dress and headscarves provided, allows travellers to admire the vast blue-and-gold interior and learn about Islam in a peaceful setting.
