Piata Unirii, or Union Square, is the baroque heart of Timisoara, a beautiful pedestrian square ringed by pastel-coloured 18th-century buildings including the Roman Catholic and Serbian Orthodox cathedrals and the old Baroque Palace. With its fountains, terraces and elegant facades, it earned the city its nickname of Little Vienna.
