The Municipal Market of Chania, or Agora, is a grand cross-shaped covered market hall from 1913 where stalls sell Cretan cheeses, olives, herbs, honey, raki, meat and fish alongside souvenirs and tavernas. A landmark in its own right, it offers a vivid, aromatic introduction to the islands produce and is one of the best places to shop for edible Cretan specialities.
