An open-plan sanctuary spanning five recreated North Queensland habitats where you can hand-feed kangaroos and wallabies and meet koalas, cassowaries and saltwater crocodiles among 100-plus native species.

Self-guided across eight acres over an hour to a full day, with keeper talks and photo opportunities; the ticket allows re-entry for five days.

Local tip: Come early when it is cooler and the wildlife is most active.
