A hilltop palace ruin of stone gateways, terraces and bathing pools looking out across the plain towards Prambanan and, on clear days, Mount Merapi.
A dated digital ticket scanned at the entrance kiosk. The site opens daily from 7am to 5.30pm with the last scan at 4pm; allow a couple of hours.
Local tip: Sunset is the classic time, so arrive by mid-afternoon. There is little shade on the plateau, so bring sun cover.
