7 Best Streets in Madrid for Strolling and Shopping

Madrid is a city best seen on foot, and the right street can be a whole afternoon. Here are seven of the best for strolling, shopping and people-watching, the way locals do it.

1. Gran Via

The grand, cinema-lined spine of the city. Gran Via is Madrids Broadway, all belle-epoque facades and flagship shops.

5. Calle Preciados

The pedestrian shopping run between Puerta del Sol and Callao, always busy, always buzzing.

6. Calle Serrano

Up in elegant Salamanca, Serrano is the address for Spanish designers and luxury flagships.

7. The edge of Retiro

Finish along the leafy avenues bordering Retiro Park, where Madrilenos stroll on weekend afternoons.
