An Art Nouveau mansion built in 1904 by the merchant Hermann Ammende as a wedding gift for his daughter, designed by the St Petersburg practice Mieritz and Gerasimov. It is among the most complete early Art Nouveau buildings in Estonia. During the Soviet decades the house served variously as a summer casino, a library and a dental clinic; it was restored and reopened as a hotel in 1999. There are nineteen rooms split between the main villa and the former steward’s house, furnished in period style, along with panelled salons and the MEKK restaurant. The setting is the resort quarter, within a short walk of the beach and the park belt.
