Opened in 1946 as Imig Manor, built by the entrepreneur Larry Imig, this North Park property took Bob Hope as its first guest, and its swimming pool was designed by the Olympic swimmer and screen Tarzan Johnny Weissmuller. The hotel declined after Interstate 8 replaced El Cajon Boulevard as the main east-west route, and it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2012. A restoration completed in 2023 reworked the 141 suites, each named after a figure from film history, and added eight bars and restaurants. The decor is deliberately theatrical rather than pared back, with patterned wallpapers, a ballroom and a busy pool deck. It stands on a broad commercial boulevard roughly five miles inland, within walking distance of North Park's breweries and shops but not the coast.
