Little Italy Mercato

San Diego County's largest farmers' market runs along West Date Street every Saturday morning and into the early afternoon, filling six blocks between Kettner Boulevard and Front Street. A smaller Wednesday market occupies three blocks around Piazza della Famiglia. Stalls cover produce, pastured eggs, poultry, meat, nuts and plants, alongside locally made bread, olive oil, sauces and fish, with craft and gift traders at each end of the run. It operates year-round in all weathers. The market functions as a genuine weekly shop for people living in the surrounding flats rather than solely as a visitor attraction, and it sits within a few minutes' walk of Little Italy's restaurants and the trolley stop.
