Is the Printemps Rooftop in Paris Worth It?

Quick answer: Yes – the Printemps rooftop terrace in Paris is worth it, and it’s free. Ride up to the 7th floor of Printemps Haussmann for a view over the Eiffel Tower, Opera Garnier and Sacre-Coeur, no ticket required.

Paris has plenty of paid rooftop viewpoints, which makes the Printemps terrace stand out – it costs nothing and requires no booking for the viewing area. See our Paris local guide for more of the city.

What it actually is

The Terrasse du 7e Ciel occupies the seventh floor of the Printemps Femme building at 64 Boulevard Haussmann. It was closed to the public from the 1960s until a later renovation reopened it as a viewing point, reached by lift and then escalator from the shop floors below.

The view and the catch

The outlook runs across the rooftops of central Paris, taking in the Eiffel Tower, the Opera Garnier and Sacre-Coeur. Part of the terrace operates seasonally, generally May to September, as a paid bar and picnic concession requiring reservation – but the free viewing area stays open alongside it regardless.

Hours and access

The store opens Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 20:00 and Sunday from 11:00 to 20:00, and the terrace keeps to store hours. The nearest metro stations are Chaussee d’Antin-La Fayette (lines 7 and 9) and Havre-Caumartin (lines 3 and 9).
