Molo Audace is a stone pier built out from Piazza Unità on the wreck of a scuttled Austro-Hungarian ship, and it now serves as the city’s favourite spot for an evening walk, holding 4.7 on Google across nearly 4,000 reviews.
It’s free and open at all hours, with unbroken views back across the square and out over the gulf towards the hills of Slovenia and Croatia on a clear day.
Local tip: Locals come here to watch the sunset over the water; get there twenty minutes early to find a spot on the compass rose at the end.
