Trieste’s longest-running fair trade shop, Il Mosaico first opened in 1992 with backing from the Diocese of Trieste and has since moved twice, most recently to Via Mazzini in the city centre.
It sells fair trade food, crafts and textiles as part of the Altromercato network, and it holds 4.7 on Google, a strong score for a small nonprofit shop that runs on volunteer hours.
Local tip: It’s a five-minute walk from Piazza Unità, so easy to combine with a stroll through the shopping streets nearby.
