Hand bookbinding and leatherwork – book covers, hand stitching, hand carving on leather – in a workshop that started in Bitola in 1979 and later moved to Ohrid, adding leather to the craft. It holds a perfect 5.0 on Google, and visitors are invited into the workshop itself rather than kept on the shop side of a counter.
The reason it belongs here rather than under shopping is craft survival: the workshop takes part in and supports craft events across Macedonia, Serbia and Turkiye, which is how skills like this stay alive when the commercial market for them is small.
Local tip: Ask to watch the stitching. Bookbinding by hand is slow, and thirty seconds of watching explains the price of everything on the shelves.
