Danum Lake is a small, pine-fringed lake a few kilometres from town on the road toward Besao, popular at sunset for its still water and quiet setting. There is no entrance fee to reach the lakeside; the only real cost is arranging transport if you are not walking.
Local tip: Bring your own snacks and water, as there is little in the way of facilities out here.
