Dar Ben Gacem is a boutique guesthouse spread across two restored historic houses on Rue du Pacha, Dar Pasha and the newer Dar Kahia annexe, run as a social enterprise that reinvests its profits into restoring more of the Medina's old houses.
Rooms are individually decorated in traditional Tunisian style, breakfast is a proper spread of local specialities, and the rooftop is a genuinely good spot to get your bearings over the Medina before heading out to explore.
Local tip: Staff here know the Medina inside out and are a good source of recommendations beyond the guidebook circuit.
