Berkeh

Berkeh trades the usual four walls for a garden setting out in Sardroud, tables laid among trees with a stream running through and birds overhead.

Seating mixes ordinary chairs with traditional raised Persian platforms scattered with Tabriz carpets and backrests, and bread comes warm from the oven rather than pre-sliced. Fillet kebab is the dish regulars order first, but the whole menu leans into old-style Azerbaijani cooking served in traditional copper and clay cookware.

Local tip: Go for a long lunch rather than a quick dinner; the garden is the whole point and it is best seen in daylight.
