Como's Gothic-Renaissance Duomo took nearly 350 years to build, and the main nave is free to step into. Full tourist access to some side areas and the cathedral's own museum and treasury carry a small separate charge, but the core of the building – and its striking facade on the piazza – cost nothing to see.
Local tip: Look up at the facade from across the piazza before going in – the detail is easy to miss once you're standing right underneath it.
