Villa Olmo's neoclassical facade faces the lake from its own park just outside the old town, and the gardens are free and open daily for a walk along the water away from the crowds in the centre. The villa itself sometimes hosts ticketed exhibitions, but the grounds alone are worth the walk.
Local tip: It's about a 20-minute walk from Piazza Cavour along the lakefront – pleasant on foot rather than something to rush by taxi.
