Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam

Java-eiland (Eastern Docklands)

Why it matters: Hotel Jakarta was designed as one of the first energy-neutral hotels in the country, generating and saving its own energy through insulation and building innovations, and it carries BREEAM and Green Key Gold certification. A large indoor subtropical garden, developed with the city’s botanical garden, cools and greens the atrium rather than just decorating it. It sits on Java-eiland a little east of the centre, an easy ferry or tram hop from Central Station and a calm base away from the crowds.
