The city’s historic downtown farmers’ market, named for Timișoara’s 700th anniversary. For generations it’s been the central place to buy produce straight from local growers — seasonal fruit and veg, homemade zacuscă (a smoky vegetable spread), local honey, herbal teas, Romanian cheeses and flowers — from mostly elderly village vendors happy to haggle. It’s quieter than in its heyday, but still an atmospheric, characterful slice of everyday Timișoara right in the centre.
