Photo: Wikimedia CommonsEven if you are not catching a train, step inside Sao Bento station to see one of Europes most beautiful railway halls, its walls covered with some twenty thousand blue-and-white azulejo tiles depicting scenes from Portuguese history. It sits right in the centre, an easy few minutes between other sights. Go early to photograph the atrium before the crowds, and look up to catch the frieze near the ceiling.
