The Ciudadela is the citys great crafts market, a covered warren of stalls selling folk art, textiles, Talavera pottery and silver from every corner of Mexico. Prices are fair and haggling is expected but good-natured. It is the single best place to buy handmade souvenirs without leaving the capital. Take your time, compare a few stalls, and look for the Oaxacan alebrijes and embroidered blouses that make the most memorable gifts.
