Rantevou — Greek for 'rendezvous' — is a charming, retro café-bar in the villagey Ano Petralona neighbourhood, exactly the sort of easygoing local hangout that Athenians love. With its vintage-tinged room and pavement tables under the trees, it is an all-day spot that drifts happily from morning coffee to late-night wine and mezedés.
The formula is simple and very Athenian: good coffee by day, and by evening a relaxed spread of small plates — falafel, salads, tapas-style bites — with well-chosen wine, beer or a shot of rakia. It is friendly, unpretentious and dog-friendly, the kind of place you drop into for one and stay for three.
Local tip: Grab an outdoor table on a warm evening and order a few mezedés to share with your wine. It is in Ano Petralona, an atmospheric, un-touristy neighbourhood well worth the short trip from the centre.
