Between May and November, humpback and southern right whales pass close to Sydney on their annual migration, and this cruise heads out through the Heads to meet them. The crew know where the whales tend to surface, and breaches and tail slaps are common on the open water beyond the harbour. It is a thrilling few hours and a very different view of the coastline. Take a motion-sickness tablet before you board if the swell bothers you, and wrap up warm as the wind picks up beyond the harbour.
