A grand 18th-century Baroque basilica by Filippo Juvarra, set on a hill east of the city with sweeping views over Turin and the Alps beyond. It holds the royal tombs of the House of Savoy and can be reached by a historic rack railway up the hillside. The terrace panorama is the main draw, while a memorial marks the 1949 air disaster that claimed the Grande Torino football team, whose plane struck the hill here.
