The scenic Turnagain Arm, a dramatic fjord-like inlet stretching south-east from Anchorage along the Seward Highway, offers some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in Alaska, with steep mountains rising from the water, one of the worlds highest tidal bores and viewpoints for spotting beluga whales and Dall sheep. The drive along the arm to Beluga Point and beyond is a highlight of the region and an easy, breathtaking excursion from the city into the surrounding wilderness.
