Piazza Grande is the magnificent and unusual sloping main square of Arezzo, framed by a harmonious mix of medieval and Renaissance buildings, including the apse of the Pieve church, historic palazzi and the elegant loggia designed by Giorgio Vasari. Famous as a setting for the film Life Is Beautiful and for the twice-yearly Giostra del Saracino jousting tournament, it is one of the most beautiful squares in Tuscany and the historic heart of the city.
