Lotte Cafe-Bistrot

Koukaki  •  ★ 4.5

Lotte Cafe-Bistrot is a small cafe and bistro at Tsami Karatasou 2 in Koukaki, a residential neighbourhood south of the Acropolis. It opened on New Year's Eve in 2015, converted from an earlier premises by its owner. The interior is furnished in a vintage register with mismatched furniture and collected objects. By day it functions as a coffee shop; in the evening it serves spirits including tsipouro alongside wine, cheese and olives. The kitchen is known for handmade savoury pies and for daily desserts, among them a traditionally made orange pie. Prices are moderate for central Athens and the crowd is largely local rather than visiting. The cafe is within walking distance of Syngrou-Fix station on metro line 2, close to the foot of Filopappou Hill and the Acropolis Museum, which makes it a practical stop after visiting either. Opening hours are not published consistently, so confirming before a special trip is sensible.
