Barbarella

Barbarella is a dance club and bar at 611 Red River Street in downtown Austin, within the Red River Cultural District, a stretch of the city known for live music and nightlife. It is known locally for LGBTQ-friendly programming and for a music policy favouring indie, electro and dance selections over mainstream chart material. Recurring weekly nights include a Tuesday event aimed at the queer community, alongside other themed evenings and DJ sets through the week. The interior is unpretentious, with a small stage area, a bar counter and a dance floor that fills quickly on busy nights. It has repeatedly won local Best of Austin awards in dance club and queer party categories. It trades Tuesday to Saturday, generally opening between 21:30 and 22:00 and closing at 02:00 in line with Texas licensing, and is closed early in the week. Several Capital Metro bus routes serve Red River Street directly.
