W Market

★ 4.3  •  2

W Market — at the W District in Phra Khanong — is one of Bangkok's coolest night markets, a colourful, arty open-air spread of street food and stalls just off Sukhumvit. Splashed with murals by up-and-coming Bangkok street artists, it swaps the usual tourist-market tat for a laid-back, design-led hangout that pulls in a young, local crowd.

The heart of it is the food: dozens of vendors and small restaurants dishing up Thai favourites alongside Japanese, Italian, Mexican and more, with plenty of relaxed seating to graze and linger. There are bars, live music and shopping stalls too, making it an easy, atmospheric spot to eat your way through an evening.

Local tip: It runs evenings only, roughly from early evening until late, and it is a short walk from BTS Phra Khanong. Go hungry, wander the whole thing before committing, and pull up a seat with a cold Chang once you have loaded up on food.
