Why locals love it
The Schwellenmätteli is 'one floor downstairs' when seen from the city center. When you are sitting on its terrace you feel like sitting on the river, not at the riverside. I can not imagine a more peaceful place to take a break from shopping and sightseeing!
Why you should visit it
Even when it is raining and you need to sit inside it is great, because the building is modern and has huge windows. On Sunday mornings you can have brunch, in wintertime a cheese fondue, and always a coffee and a piece of cake.
Special tip
If you like to you can take a lovely walk along the riverside to the Bärenpark (bear park).
