The instant accessibility of Chautauqua and the Flatirons is a great asset, but also means these areas can get crowded, which is typically not the experience one seeks when undertaking a venture into the wilderness. The drive between Boulder city and Eldorado canyon is breif, but enough of a barrier to keep this State Park more of a hidden gem.
The small hamlet of Eldorado Springs is funky enough to deserve a quick visit. Check out the outdoor sculptures adorning the arts center.
