Slavín was constructed between 1957 and 1960 as a monument to fallen Soviet Army soldiers during World War II who liberated Bratislava from German fascists. On its walls you can see Slovak cities with dates of their liberation.
In order to get to Slavín you have to go through a quarter full of nice houses and embassies, so a stroll up the hill is really worth it. The monument is located near the city center and boasts a wonderful view over Bratislava.
